Chery’s Jetour Traveller Off-Road SUV to Commence Pre-Sale on August 24, Starting at Possibly $18,000

Chery, under its Jetour brand, is gearing up to launch its anticipated off-road style SUV, the Traveller. According to Chinese Jetour dealers, the pre-sale of the Jetour Traveller is set to commence on August 24. Prospective buyers can anticipate a price range of 129,800 – 166,900 yuan (approximately $18,000 – $23,100 USD), with official deliveries scheduled to kick off in September. The Traveller model caters to consumers seeking a vehicle suitable for light to normal off-road conditions.

Positioned as a mid-sized SUV, the Jetour Traveller boasts dimensions of 4785/2006/1800mm, accompanied by a 2800mm wheelbase. With a ground clearance of 220mm, an approach angle of 28°, and a departure angle of 30°, the vehicle is adept at handling various terrains. The Traveller presents a robust exterior characterized by its boxy structure, prominent bumpers, wide arches, sidebars, and roof racks. The vehicle rides on either 18-inch or 20-inch aluminum wheels. The rear design follows the classic off-road SUV layout, featuring a sizeable spare wheel cover and a wide high-mounted brake light. The vertical taillights incorporate LED technology, and a tow hook is included.

The Jetour Traveller offers versatility in its powertrain options, including Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) variants. The ICE versions include a 1.5T engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) for front-wheel drive and a 2.0T engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission (AT) featuring BorgWarner’s sixth-generation four-wheel drive system. The 1.5T engine delivers 135 kW of power, while the 2.0T engine boasts a maximum power of 187 kW and a peak torque of 390 Nm. Their fuel consumption is recorded at 8.35L/100km and 8.83L/100km, respectively.

For eco-conscious consumers, a PHEV version is also in the pipeline, equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and an electric motor, mated to a 3-speed Dual-Clutch Hybrid Transmission (DHT). Jetour asserts that the PHEV variant is capable of exceeding a comprehensive cruising range of 1,000 km. This version is expected to launch later in November.

Inside the cabin, the Jetour Traveller boasts a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 15.6-inch central control screen integrated with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. Features in the 1.5T entry-level version encompass front seat ventilation and heating, adaptive cruise control, eight airbags, and 64-color ambient lighting. In contrast, the 2.0T high-end iteration offers front soundproof glass, suede seats, 128-color ambient lighting, 10 airbags, and a 12-speaker Sony audio system. With its comprehensive offering, the Jetour Traveller aims to appeal to a diverse array of SUV enthusiasts.
