As anticipation builds for this year’s Chengdu auto show, set to unfold next week, Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) is gearing up for its forthcoming press event.
On the opening day of the Chengdu auto show, Agosto 25, Li Auto will take the stage to unveil insights regarding the 5C supercharging system, City NOA functionality, and the company’s inaugural battery electric vehicle (BEV), the eagerly awaited Li Mega. This announcement was shared by the company today on the Weibo platform.
Spanning from August 25 to September 3, the Chengdu auto show will grace the Western China International Expo City, reserving August 25 as the media-focused day.
The event’s organizers reported that a comprehensive display of nearly 1,600 models from 129 brands will be showcased. Li Auto’s booth will find its place in Hall 11, designated as H1102.
Li Auto had previously unveiled partial insights into supercharging, ADAS, and the Li Mega during its inaugural Family Tech Day on June 17. The forthcoming event is expected to shed further light on these aspects.
Positioned as Li Auto’s inaugural BEV, the Li Mega is slated for release by the conclusion of 2023. The company’s declaration during the Family Tech Day event in June revealed its confidence in the Li Mega’s potential to emerge as the dominant seller among passenger cars priced at RMB 500,000 ($68,650) or more, transcending energy form and body style constraints.
A key highlight of the Li Mega is its ability to disrupt the conventional notion that high-end pure EVs cannot achieve substantial sales figures. Li Auto reiterated this perspective in previous statements.
Li Auto’s current product lineup features three models: the five-seat Li L7, and the six-seat Li L8 and Li L9, all of which fall within the category of extended-range veículos elétricos (EREVs), functioning as plug-in hybrids.
The company introduced its groundbreaking 5C charging solution during the June event, boasting a charging capacity exceeding 500 kW. Employing a system-level optimization approach, Li Auto leveraged the 5C charging multiplier to achieve remarkable feats such as 400 km of range on a 9-minute 30-second charge, e 600 km de alcance em apenas 22 ata.
City NOA, another innovative feature highlighted by Li Auto in June, underwent internal testing in Beijing and Shanghai. Plans to expand its availability to more cities during the second half of the year were also confirmed.
