The Yoke steering wheel, characterized by its half-spoke design, was initially introduced in the Tesla Model S and Model X models during the summer of 2021, and it was included as a standard feature at that time.

Reception to the Yoke steering wheel has been mixed, with some Tesla owners finding it more challenging to control the vehicle with this design, while others have embraced it.

In late April of the same year, Tesla updated the Model S and Model X configurations in the United States to include a circular steering wheel as the default option. Customers who preferred the Yoke steering wheel had the option to add it to their vehicles for an additional $250.

Following this change in the United States, Tesla adopted a similar approach in China, offering the Yoke steering wheel as an optional feature for the Model S and Model X, with an associated cost of RMB 2,000.

Tesla’s factory in Shanghai is currently focused on producing the more affordable Model 3 e Modelo Y. Contudo, earlier this year, the new Model S and Model X variants were imported into China.
