Zeekr introduced the updated Zeekr 001 on February 27, maintaining the initial price while offering a RMB 20,000 discount on the two higher-trim variants.

As the premium electric vehicle (EV) arm of Geely Holding Group, Zeekr disclosed the impressive reception of the updated Zeekr 001, surpassing 30,000 firm orders within its debut month on the market, as revealed today on Weibo.

Firm orders refer to orders accompanied by a non-refundable RMB 5,000 ($670) deposit.

Zeekr’s announcement highlighted the temporary offer of complimentary upgrades, including premium exterior colors and wheels, for customers ordering the model before March 31, stressing the imminent expiration of this limited-time benefit.

The Zeekr 001, Zeekr’s inaugural model, debuted on April 17, 2021, with deliveries commencing in October of the same year.

The shooting brake variant emerged as Zeekr’s flagship, with 76,246 units sold in 2023, constituting 64 percent of the 118,685 total Zeekr vehicles delivered during the year, according to CnEVPost data.

The updated Zeekr 001 retains four versions, akin to its predecessor, featuring two WE variants starting at RMB 269,000 each, an ME variant at RMB 299,000, and a YOU variant at RMB 329,000.

While the starting prices for the two WE editions remain unchanged compared to the previous discounted rates, the ME and YOU variants witness a RMB 20,000 reduction.

Externally, the updated Zeekr 001 retains its design, yet substantial enhancements are noted in core specifications, notably the transition from a 400 V to an 800 V voltage platform, enabling faster charging and lower energy consumption.

In February, Zeekr achieved a delivery of 7,510 vehicles, marking a 37.67 percent year-on-year increase but a 40.10 percent decrease from January, primarily attributed to the Chinese New Year holidays.

Geely’s earnings report, released on March 20, outlines Zeekr’s sales target of 230,000 units for the year, representing a substantial 94 percent growth compared to the 2023 delivery figure.

Moreover, Zeekr plans to diversify its portfolio by introducing three new models in 2024, targeting various market segments, as indicated in the earnings report.

Furthermore, Zeekr announced via its mobile app its initiative to compensate Chinese customers for delivery delays, prompted by the surge in orders for Zeekr 001 and Zeekr 007.

Customers placing a non-refundable deposit before April 30 will receive a subsidy of RMB 150 worth of credits per day, up to a maximum of RMB 3,000, for delays exceeding the estimated delivery timeframe specified on the mobile app due to Zeekr-related factors.

This commitment extends to all currently available Zeekr models, encompassing Zeekr 001, Zeekr 001 FR, Zeekr 007, Zeekr 009, and Zeekr X.
